According to different operating voltages, load types, and control methods, AC contactors can be classified into several different types.
(1) By operating voltage: AC contactors can be divided into low-voltage contactors and high-voltage contactors. Low-voltage contactors generally operate at voltages below 380V and are suitable for controlling low-voltage electrical equipment; high-voltage contactors generally operate at voltages above 380V and are suitable for controlling high-voltage electrical equipment.
(2) By load type: AC contactors can be divided into resistive load contactors, inductive load contactors, and capacitive load contactors. Resistive load contactors are suitable for controlling resistive loads, such as electric furnaces and electric heaters; inductive load contactors are suitable for controlling inductive loads, such as motors and transformers; capacitive load contactors are suitable for controlling capacitive loads, such as capacitors.
(3) By control method: AC contactors can be divided into manual control contactors, automatic control contactors, and remote control contactors. Manually controlled contactors require manual operation to achieve switching actions; automatically controlled contactors achieve switching actions through automatic control devices; remotely controlled contactors achieve switching actions through remote signals.
